Confidence, Caring, Trust , Professionalism- The Main Reasons to Come to Us
Hair transplantation is widely considered to be the most effective option for restoring hair because it’s a permanent, relatively simple procedure, and it achieves a natural look. Hair transplantation procedures are performed by MAYBA physicians using next generation hair-by-hair restoration techniques. This approach creates a seamless transition as soft and silky as the original hairline, with results that look completely natural and undetectable.
During a hair transplantation, a physician moves healthy hair follicles from one location and relocates them to the area of the head that is thin or bald due to the hormone DHT. The hair transplantation itself can consist of anywhere between several hundred to a few thousand grafts, depending on the patient’s hair loss classification and the amount of hair needed to fill in thinning areas. Each hair follicle extracted from the donor area is carefully transplanted into the scalp in the recipient area to match the patient’s previous hair growth pattern, where the new hair will continue to grow as usual. This newly transplanted hair is artistically placed to complement the natural growth of the patient’s hairline and facial features, giving the patient the most natural looking results.
A hair transplant is a wonderful thing; it can transform you both physically and mentally and give you a new outlook and perspective on life. It sounds dramatic, but losing your hair is a very personal thing to experience. It leaves you feeling exposed and can have long-lasting affects on your self-esteem and social confidence.
Usually associated with old age, baldness can strike at any time, especially if the gene for male pattern baldness has been passed down through the generations.

There are two types of hair transplants which MAYBA Clinic carries out. This article is to help distinguish between the two so you understand the basic underline theory behind each type of procedure. The two procedures are the FUE, Follicular Unit Extraction, and the FUT, Follicular Unit Transplantation.
Follicular Unit Extraction
The FUE method involves each follicular unit being individually taken directly from the scalp with no strip of tissue being removed. It involves all remaining hair on a patient being extracted using a small circular instrument. Hair follicles are removed in a random fashion resulting in less density in the donor area which many say is not even noticeable. This is the main difference between FUE & FUT. Since follicles are removed one at a time, fewer follicles can be harvested during a typical session, making FUE a better option to restore hair in smaller cases (number of grafts) compared to the traditional FUT method.
The FUE process can take a few hours, but is painless after being given local numbing injections The process is repeated until the surgeon deems necessary, thus the patient may undergo the procedure over the course of a couple of days.
Follicular Unit Transplantation
The FUT method is where hair is transplanted from the scalp to areas of the head in which hair loss occurs. This procedure is more intrusive, as the physician will cut a strip of tissue from the scalp before cutting it into thousands of follicular grafts. These grafts are then placed around the head, after the physician has created holes with recipient sites around the affected areas.
This method is suitable for cases of advanced hair loss, as it allows the physician to fully utilize the scalp area to deliver results consistent with the patients expectations. This method generally allowed for the greatest number of grafts to be transplanted in a single session.
The advantages and disadvantages of FUE and FUT
There are some key differences between FUE and FUT procedures. Some of the main differences are outlined below.
• No linear scars in the donor area, allowing patients to keep shorter hair and not worry about scars showing.
• Takes less time to heal.
• Can continue normal daily activity following the surgery.
• The quality of hair is usually of better quality in the planted area.
• In some circumstances the hair follicles can start to fall out again.
• Grafts of more fragile due to the lack the protective dermis and fat lost.
• If more than one FUE procedure is required, there will be subsequent scarring. This is in the form of tiny round scars.
• Usually takes longer to complete as the extraction processes grafts are harvested one by one.
• Does leave scarring, however is usually better for people with larger areas of baldness. Furthermore, there is usually only one scar even after multiple sessions.
• Longer recovery time.
• Usually offered in cases where there is advanced hair loss
• Graft quality is better than FUE.
• The procedure is quicker as there are dissectors working on the removed scalp strip whilst the surgeon creates the recipient sites for the hair follicles.
